A new video game based on the popular children’s series “Bluey” is set to launch this month, created by Joe Brumm and developed by Halfbrick Studios, known for their work on “Fruit Ninja.”
Titled “Blueyâs Quest for the Gold Pen,” this mobile, console, and PC game is designed for fans of “Bluey” who are looking for an epic adventure filled with puzzles, quests, and challenges, while still capturing the warmth, humor, and gentle fun that younger viewers and families love.
The “Bluey” animated TV series, created by Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS in Australia, follows the adventures of Bluey, a lovable Blue Heeler dog, along with her family – Mum, Dad, and little sister Bingo. Bluey’s boundless energy leads to imaginative games that bring her family and neighbors into a world of fun and laughter.
In “Blueyâs Quest for the Gold Pen,” players will be tasked with helping Bluey’s dad, Bandit, retrieve a magical gold pen that can turn everything it touches to gold. Drawing mechanics inspired by the show will be a key element of the gameplay.
During a recent video Q&A on Bluey.TV, Brumm revealed that Bandit’s character is based on himself, describing him as a mix of King Midas and David Lee Roth. The game is a reflection of Brumm’s playful nature and desire to create challenges for his own children.
Collaborating with BBC Studios and Ludo Studio, “Blueyâs Quest for the Gold Pen” will launch globally on the App Store on December 11 and on the Google Play Store on January 10. The mobile version will offer a free trial with an option to unlock all levels for $14.99.
In the future, Halfbrick and PM Studios plan to release the game on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The pricing for these versions has yet to be announced.
