A New York Man’s Mysterious Disappearance in Turks and Caicos

A decomposed body has been discovered in the search for a New York man who went missing last week in Turks and Caicos, according to local authorities.

During a search in the area of Grace Bay, investigators found “the body of a deceased male in a decomposed state,” but have not confirmed whether it belongs to Brian Tarrence, who disappeared on June 25, as reported by CBS, citing the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

51-year-old Tarrence, who resided in Manhattan, was last seen three days after arriving on the Caribbean island for a romantic anniversary trip with his wife. Security footage captured him leaving his Airbnb at Paradise Inn in Grace Bay around 3:30 a.m.

His wife, who is still in Turks and Caicos, has enlisted the help of a private investigator in the search.

The private investigator claimed that Tarrence had his cellphone and wallet when he left his rental and was in a known safe area.

“So far, we haven’t been successful in anything, but we’re not giving up hope,” said private investigator Carl DeFazio, a former NYPD officer and US Marine, in an interview with Fox News.

DeFazio is working on obtaining records of Tarrence’s phone activity on the island to piece together his movements and potentially locate him alive.

The US State Department issued a travel advisory in March for tourists visiting the popular vacation island chain due to a rise in violent crimes, as reported by InSight Crime.

Authorities have not yet suspected any foul play in Tarrence’s disappearance.
