A tragic incident has shaken the bodybuilding community as Colombian bodybuilder Zunilda Hoyos Mendez, also known as “She Hulk,” was found dead in her rental home in Malaga, Spain. Her husband, Jarrod Gelling, was also found dead with self-inflicted stab wounds, leading authorities to believe it was a murder-suicide.
Mendez, 43, had confided in her family about the abusive behavior of her 46-year-old husband, stating that they were planning to divorce after their vacation in Spain. The couple had been staying in Malaga for a month following Gelling’s knee surgery, with plans to participate in a bodybuilding competition in Portugal in a couple of weeks.
The discovery of Mendez’s body, bearing signs of blunt force trauma from a hammer, and Gelling’s body with apparent self-inflicted stab wounds, shocked the local community. Spanish National Police are conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of their deaths.
Mendez’s family revealed that she had not been in contact with them since Saturday, after the couple had traveled from Dubai to southern Spain. Mendez had intended to support Gelling during his recovery from knee surgery before heading to Portugal for the competition and then finalizing their divorce in Colombia.
