The Jobs Report: A Shift in Employment Dynamics Under Trump

The most recent jobs report issued during the Trump administration showcases a striking reversal: American-born workers have secured over 2 million jobs since January, while foreign-born workers—including those potentially in the country illegally—have seen a decline of more than half a million positions.

As highlighted in the June report from the U.S. Department of Labor, the numbers speak volumes: American-born workers have added an impressive 2,056,000 jobs, while foreign-born workers have faced the loss of a staggering 543,000 jobs.

The data originates from the Household Survey, a crucial yet often overlooked segment of the monthly Employment Situation report. While the overall job growth in June was relatively modest at 147,000, the real narrative lies within the details of these gains—specifically, the shift in focus toward American workers.

Under Biden’s administration, which many labeled as globalist, there was a marked increase in job opportunities for foreign-born workers, often those who entered the U.S. amid lenient immigration policies. However, the second Trump administration has dramatically altered this trajectory.

In June alone, foreign-born employment dipped by 348,000, while native-born employment surged by 830,000—a remarkable one-month contrast that underscores this ongoing trend. This reversal is not merely statistical; it embodies a significant ideological shift.

As reported by Fox News, the Labor Department’s report for June indicates that the number of foreign-born workers decreased by 348,000 from May, contributing to a total decline of over 543,000 jobs since January.

Conversely, U.S.-born workers saw an increase of 830,000 jobs from May to June, marking a rise of over 2 million since the inception of the second Trump administration.

This marks a stark contrast to the previous year under Biden, during which foreign-born workers gained 1.025 million jobs, while native-born workers added 1.099 million jobs in the same timeframe.

The Trump White House celebrated these statistics in a post-report statement, with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt declaring, “For the fourth consecutive month, job numbers have surpassed market expectations, with nearly 150,000 quality jobs created in June.”

Leavitt further emphasized, “American-born workers have accounted for all job gains since President Trump took office, and wages are on the rise,” asserting that the “economy is booming again” and will continue to flourish with the forthcoming passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
