The Tale of the Wealthy Hedge Funder’s Son and the Golf Cart Incident
A lawsuit filed by alleged victims claimed that Garrett Huff, the “thrill-seeking” son of a wealthy hedge funder, left two friends seriously injured after a dangerous stunt involving the family golf cart at their $15 million Southampton estate.
According to court papers, the incident occurred after a night of drinking and playing games when Huff decided to take the golf cart for a spin with his friends John Mascali and Heather Dailey. The reckless maneuver resulted in the cart flipping at full speed, causing Mascali and Dailey to sustain serious injuries.
Mascali recounted the terrifying moment when the cart lifted off the ground and ultimately overturned, throwing him and Dailey to the pavement and rendering them unconscious.
Both victims suffered significant injuries, with Mascali enduring spinal fractures and a concussion, while Dailey needed staples for a head wound and now experiences debilitating migraines.
The lawsuit accuses the Huffs of being aware of their son’s reckless behavior with the golf cart, especially when under the influence of alcohol, and failing to prevent such incidents despite previous injuries caused by similar stunts.
Attorney William A. Brewer III, representing Mascali and Dailey, emphasized that the incident was not an accident but a result of long-ignored reckless behavior.
The Huffs have not responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
