Investigation Launched into FBI Leaking Immigration Operation Details
Border Czar Tom Homan has raised concerns about the FBI potentially leaking information regarding an immigration enforcement operation to the media, which could endanger law enforcement officers.
The U.S. Department of Justice has initiated a criminal investigation into the matter, with the possibility of prosecuting those responsible.
In a televised interview on Fox, Homan stated that the Attorney General’s office has vowed to not only terminate the individual responsible but also pursue criminal charges, including jail time.
Operational Details Exposed
Reports surfaced after the Los Angeles Times published leaked information about a forthcoming immigration enforcement operation in the city. A similar incident occurred in Aurora, Colorado, where an operation targeting Venezuelan gangs was compromised due to leaked details.
The upcoming raid in Los Angeles, scheduled for later this month, will proceed without local support as California and the city uphold sanctuary policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Diverging Approaches
California’s sanctuary status contrasts with New York’s stance, where the governor and mayor have expressed willingness to collaborate with immigration enforcement efforts in certain scenarios.
