Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, placed on lockdown amid active shooter reports
The U.S. Army post Fort Hood, recently renamed back from “Fort Cavazos,” found itself in a precarious situation on Saturday evening, as it was reportedly put on lockdown due to alarming reports of a potential active shooter.
At approximately 7 p.m. local time, military officials enacted emergency protocols after social media began flooding with alerts about active shooter alarms. Videos captured the tension at the scene, where a loudspeaker announced, “An active shooter incident is occurring on the installation, avoid all outdoor areas. If the active shooter is in your building or nearby, lock the door.”

As of now, there have been no official reports regarding casualties, suspects, or motives behind the incident. A spokesperson from Fort Hood commented, “There was an incident on the installation, and we are working to gather more information.”
UPDATE: Authorities have clarified that there is no active shooter at Fort Hood; however, law enforcement is responding to an incident at the nearby Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area.

According to the Fort Cavazos Directorate of Emergency Services, authorities are responding to an incident at BLORA and are asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.
Fort Cavazos Garrison Command Public Affairs officials later confirmed that there was never an active shooter and that no lockdown was officially issued on Saturday night. However, an investigation is currently underway regarding an incident involving two individuals at BLORA.
