Radio communications indicated that Boelter was tracked into the woods of Sibley County. When a drone began surveying the area, he surrendered by raising his hands and walking towards officers in a SWAT vehicle.
Reports indicate that he was first seen near a residence in Green Isle before making a dash down a driveway into the woods, clad in all black and carrying a backpack. At one point, he reportedly assumed the fetal position and crawled on the ground before ultimately surrendering.
This arrest concludes a nearly 48-hour nationwide manhunt that began early Saturday morning when authorities allege he shot Minnesota Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in their Champlin homeâboth of whom survived the attack.
Following this, Boelter allegedly went to the home of Democratic House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park, where police claim he fatally shot her and her husband Mark while impersonating a police officer.
