The 2026 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group was a night to remember, with “Bring Her Back” emerging as the biggest winner of the evening. The film took home an impressive 10 trophies out of 16 nominations, including best film, direction, editing, cinematography, and more. Sally Hawkins also received the award for best lead actress for her outstanding performance in the movie. Hosted by Celeste Barber, the AACTA Awards celebrate the best in Australian screen talent across various categories.

In television, “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” was the standout winner with nine wins out of 12 nominations, including best actor in a drama for Jacob Elordi. “The Newsreader” also had a successful night, securing four victories from 12 nominations, including best drama series. Additionally, “Apple Cider Vinegar” took home the honor for best miniseries.

AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella commended the winners for showcasing the strength and diversity of Australian screen talent. The awards also recognized individuals for their outstanding contributions, with Bruce Beresford receiving the AACTA Longford Lyell Award, Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings honored with the Byron Kennedy Award, and many others receiving special awards.

The 2026 AACTA Audience Choice Awards, voted by audiences worldwide, celebrated fan favorites such as “Stranger Things” and “Wicked: For Good,” as well as talented Australian stars like Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, and Robert Irwin.

New categories were introduced at this year’s ceremony, with winners like “Shameless” for best podcast, Norris Nuts for best online channel, Bridey Drake for best digital creator, and Mekonnen Knife for the Rabanne Breakthrough Artist Award. Foxtel Group’s executive director of entertainment content, Daniel Monaghan, praised the creativity and craftsmanship of Australian storytelling showcased at the AACTA Awards.

The event was attended by industry luminaries like Sarah Snook, Brian Cox, Phoebe Tonkin, and Dacre Montgomery. The complete list of winners across film, television, documentary, online, and other categories was a testament to the talent and innovation in the Australian entertainment industry.

Overall, the 2026 AACTA Awards was a night of celebration and recognition for the best in Australian screen talent, highlighting the incredible work being done in the industry.
