The British Society of Cinematographers recently announced the nominees for their annual awards, honoring outstanding work in cinematography. Among the feature film nominees were “Die My Love” by Seamus McGarvey, “Marty Supreme” by Darius Khondji, and “Sinners” by Autumn Arkapaw. The category also included “Frankenstein” by Dan Lausten and “One Battle After Another” by Michael Bauman.
In the television drama category, nominees included “The Studio,” “Adolescence,” “Black Mirror,” and “Task.” Bauman and Arkapaw received their first nominations, while Khondji received his fourth and McGarvey his sixth nomination. McGarvey has previously won for his work on “Anna Karenina” and “Nocturnal Animals.”
Christopher Ross BSC, President of the British Society of Cinematographers, congratulated all the nominees, stating that 2025 was an exceptional year for cinematography. He praised the diversity of projects and the global reach of cinematography in the nominations.
The winners of the awards will be announced on February 7th at The Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel. The event will feature awards for Cinematography in a Feature Film, sponsored by Sunbelt Rentals (UK), as well as awards for Television Drama (UK Terrestrial) and Television Drama (International/Streaming), sponsored by Sony and MBSE respectively.
Nominations for the BSC John Alcott Memorial Award, BSC Bert Easey Technical Achievement Award, and BSC Special Achievement Award will be announced at a later date. The Operators Award for Feature Film and Television Drama will also be announced at a later date.
The nominations for the various categories, including Feature Film, Television Drama, and Music Video, showcase the diverse talent and creativity within the world of cinematography. The awards ceremony promises to be a celebration of the artistry and skill of cinematographers from around the world.
