A Silver Plume House Fire Spreads to Brush Along Interstate 70
A house fire in Silver Plume on Sunday afternoon quickly escalated, spreading to the nearby brush along Interstate 70, as reported by Clear Creek County officials.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the house fire, although the home was completely engulfed in flames, according to a statement released by Clear Creek County officials at 3:40 p.m. on social media. Passing drivers on I-70 noticed the flames and promptly called 911 for assistance.
In less than 20 minutes, the fire had extended to the surrounding wilderness, prompting additional units to be dispatched to combat the growing brush fire on the north side of the highway, stated county officials.
Responding to the emergency were crews from various agencies including Clear Creek Fire Authority, Evergreen Fire Rescue, Gilpin Fire, Foothills Fire Protection District, Clear Creek Emergency Medical Services, Central City Fire Department, Summit Fire and EMS, Xcel Energy, and Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District, all present at the scene on Sunday afternoon, as confirmed by Clear Creek officials.
Details regarding the size of the brush fire and the cause of the initial house fire were not immediately disclosed on Sunday.
