Cold-Blooded Killer Ordered to Pay Restitution to Victims’ Families

Bryan Kohberger, the cold-blooded killer responsible for the quadruple murder of four University of Idaho students, has been ordered by a judge to pay restitution to the families of his victims. On the third anniversary of the horrific crime, a court ruled that Kohberger must use some of the nearly $30,000 in donations he received from supporters to compensate the families.

Last week, Kohberger claimed he could not afford to pay an additional $27,000 in restitution to the families of two of the victims. However, the judge dismissed his plea of poverty after it was revealed that he had received over $28,000 in donations from supporters and family members.

Despite the initial request for $27,000, Kohberger was only ordered to pay an additional $3,000 to cover the cost of urns for two of his victims, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves. The total amount sought was reduced after the defense argued that certain expenses were not covered under Idaho restitution laws.

In addition to restitution, Kohberger has been ordered to pay over $300,000 in fines as part of his guilty plea. This includes the $29,000 in restitution to the families of two of his victims, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.

Kohberger, who is currently serving four consecutive life sentences, confessed to the murders in July, just before his trial was set to begin. By pleading guilty, he avoided the possibility of facing the death penalty if convicted by a jury.

The brutal murders took place on November 13, 2022, when Kohberger, a former Washington University graduate student, attacked the four University of Idaho friends in their off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars for this heinous crime.
