Bunnie Xo is offering insights into how Jelly Roll‘s daughter, Bailee, is coping with their divorce announcement.
On the June 18 episode of her “Dumb Blonde” podcast, Bunnie, 46, explained that she prefers not to speak on behalf of Bailee. “I usually text her before the podcast and ask if there’s anything she wants me to defend her about,” she noted. Bunnie emphasized the need for more empathy, stating, “We are human, and while we’re public figures, people shouldn’t expect so much from us.”
She acknowledged Bailee’s perspective and expressed her commitment to supporting her. “She just turned 18, and she feels like the only consistent woman in her life is being taken away. It’s a tough transition,” Bunnie said. “She’s upset with me because I was the disciplinarian, while her dad was the fun parent.”
Bailee’s frustration isn’t limited to Bunnie. “She’s mad at her dad for his actions, and she has every right to feel that way,” Bunnie explained. “She’s experiencing a lot of emotions, like unfollowing me on Instagram one day and asking me to follow her back the next. This is our current reality.”
Bunnie is allowing Bailee to express her feelings. “I don’t mind if she’s upset with me for two years. I’ll be there for her when she’s ready to come back,” she asserted.
Us Weekly confirmed on June 15 that Jelly Roll, 41, filed for divorce a month earlier after nearly 10 years of marriage. He has two children, Bailee and Noah, from previous relationships.
Following the divorce news, Bailee voiced her thoughts on TikTok on June 16.
“I’m disgusted by how involved people are in a clearly personal family matter. It’s crazy,” she wrote over a photo of herself in bed. “Go worry about your own house, not mine. I’m not ready to talk about it — yet.”
Both Bunnie and Jelly Roll have spoken about their breakup.
“My wife and I are best friends and will always be. We spoke on the phone earlier today,” Jelly Roll stated during a performance in New York. “Nobody cheated. She explained everything in her podcast, and it’s all true.”
He added, “Bunnie will always be my best friend. This is the only time I’ll discuss it. I love you, Bunnie. Thank you for an incredible 10 years and the friendship that will continue for decades.”
Bunnie addressed rumors regarding the split, denying claims she cheated on Jelly Roll or is dating Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger.
“These rumors are false and embarrassing,” she remarked on her podcast. “It’s frustrating how the internet can create stories that people just believe.”
