Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert regarding a series of vehicle burglaries that have occurred in parking garages in the Loop area. The burglar has targeted at least 13 vehicles since late Friday night, breaking into both residential and public parking facilities.
According to CPD, the suspect has been using an object to smash the side windows of the cars and stealing items from inside the vehicles. The incidents include seven cars being broken into in a garage in the 600 block of South La Salle, five vehicles targeted in a garage in the 800 block of South Wells, and another vehicle in a garage on West 9th Street.
Witnesses have reported seeing the burglar fleeing in a gray Lexus sedan with Ontario, Canada license plates. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, and black and gray Jordan gym shoes.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the suspect to contact detectives at 312-744-8263, referencing crime pattern #P25-3-026.
