Chicago Burglary Spree Leaves Businesses in Disarray
A group of burglars carried out a series of break-ins at four businesses across Chicago in the early hours of Sunday, according to a report from Chicago Police Department. The five-member crew is currently at large, with authorities urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to their apprehension.
The burglars began their spree by forcibly entering Foot Locker at 26-28 South State in the Loop. After ransacking the store, they fled the scene in a stolen Kia Forte, as per police reports.
Subsequently, the group proceeded to target three other establishments, employing a similar modus operandi of breaking through windows or doors to gain entry.
At Sheffield’s Market & Deli located at 2955 North Sheffield, the burglars shattered a window around 2:03 a.m. and made off with accessible items without fully entering the premises, according to an eyewitness account.
About 20 minutes later, they struck again in the Loop, this time at South Loop Market in the 200 block of West Van Buren.
Their final target was AJ Convenience and Tobacco at 3401 West Fullerton, where they were seen at 3:06 a.m.
Described in CPD’s bulletin as five Black males clad in dark clothing, black ski masks, and orange and black gloves, the burglars were also reported to have used a vehicle that was later found to be stolen in the Loop.
Individuals with any pertinent information are encouraged to contact Area Three detectives at 312-744-8263 and reference crime pattern #25-CWP-004.
