Police Issue Warning About Burglary Crew Targeting Homes in Bucktown
Authorities in Chicago have issued a warning about a burglary crew that has been targeting homes in the Bucktown neighborhood. The suspects, three men traveling in a cargo van, have been linked to at least three residential burglaries in the area this month. The burglaries have resulted in the theft of money, jewelry, a safe, and other valuable items. According to Chicago police, the men typically force their way into homes through side or rear doors.
One victim who captured video footage of the suspects posted it on the Ring network, expressing their shock and fear at seeing the intruders inside their home. The victim urged neighbors to take precautions such as locking doors, setting alarms, and deadbolting everything to ensure the safety of their loved ones.
The first reported incident occurred on October 2 in the 1800 block of West Dickens, followed by another burglary in the 2200 block of North Leavitt just 30 minutes later. The crew returned to the neighborhood on October 4 and targeted a home in the 2000 block of West Churchill.
Chicago police described the suspects as Black males who were traveling in a silver 2005 GMC Savana van with Illinois license plate 102028PV. The van reportedly has a noticeable dent on the back end, making it easily identifiable.
