Busy Philipps has landed a series regular role in the upcoming CBS drama series “Cupertino,” according to a report from Variety. The show, created by Robert and Michelle King, is set in the heart of Silicon Valley and follows a lawyer, portrayed by Mike Colter, who is fighting against his former tech start-up employer for his stock-options. He teams up with another fired attorney, played by Rachel Keller, to represent those who have been taken advantage of by the tech elite in a high-stakes legal battle.
Philipps will play Natalia, the ex-wife of an AI billionaire who is seeking revenge after being divorced when she turned forty. She decides to finance Michael and Olivia’s start-up law firm to go after AI businesses, including her ex-husband’s.
The actress, known for her roles in “Freaks and Geeks,” “Dawson’s Creek,” and “Cougar Town,” brings a wealth of experience to the show. Her film credits include “Mean Girls: The Musical,” “I Feel Pretty,” and “The Gift.” She currently hosts a talk show on QVC+ and previously hosted “Busy Tonight” on E!.
The Kings, who are behind the successful legal drama “The Good Wife,” will write, executive produce, and co-showrun “Cupertino.” The series was picked up by CBS in October 2025 after being in development since 2024. The Kings have an overall deal with CBS Studios, where they will produce the show alongside Liz Glotzer.
