Canneseries’ Norwegian competition entry “Nepobaby,” led by showrunners Henriette Steenstrup (“Pørni”) and Siri Seljeseth (“Young & Promising”), has recently secured distribution deals with Be.tv in Belgium and RÚV in Iceland. This exciting news was announced by sales company Oble during the ongoing French series festival, which is scheduled to run from April 24-29.
In “Nepobaby,” the talented Vivild Falk Berg, known for her role in “Pørni,” portrays Emma, a young woman whose life takes a dramatic turn when she discovers that she is the heir to one of Norway’s oldest and most affluent shipping families. Her estranged father, who recently passed away, left her a substantial inheritance and a stake in the family business, much to the surprise and dismay of her newfound siblings. The series also stars Nicolai Cleve Broch, Kristin Grue, and Helle Ryg Eia.
The cast and creators of “Nepobaby” are set to attend a special screening of the first two episodes on April 26, where they will walk the pink carpet alongside co-creator Seljeseth, directors Gunnar Vikene and Hallvar Witzø, and producer Ida Håndlykken Kvernstrøm from Eldorado Content Club.
Oble co-founder Katia Sol expressed her excitement for the premiere of “Nepobaby,” highlighting the opportunity for audiences to experience the series firsthand at the prestigious Palais des Festivals in Cannes. The show is currently in post-production, generating buzz among international buyers.
In addition to Belgium and Iceland, “Nepobaby” has also secured deals with TV2 Norway and RÚV in Iceland. The series has been warmly received by broadcasters and audiences alike, with a second season already in development.
Steenstrup shared her inspiration for “Nepobaby,” citing her desire to create a project specifically for the talented Falk Berg, whom she had worked with on “Pørni.” The show explores themes of family dynamics, inheritance, and the impact of wealth on relationships, all of which resonate with universal audiences.
Set to premiere on TV2 Norway in October, “Nepobaby” marks the first production from Eldorado Content Club, founded by Steenstrup and producers Håndlykken Kvernstrøm and Bård Fjulsrud. The team’s previous success with “Pørni” has paved the way for this new venture, with the final season of “Pørni” set to premiere on Netflix in May.
Fans can look forward to the launch of “Nepobaby” and the continuation of Eldorado Content Club’s creative endeavors in the television industry.
