Carey Mulligan Begins Filming for Season 2 of Netflixâs âBeefâ
Carey Mulligan recently announced at the Variety Studio presented by Audible at Sundance that she has âjust startedâ filming the highly anticipated second season of Netflixâs hit series âBeef.â The first season of the show, which starred Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, was a critical success and won multiple Emmys. With a new storyline and an entirely new cast, including Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny, fans are eagerly awaiting the new episodes.
âWe just started. Almost everything [is different],â Mulligan shared with Varietyâs Tatiana Siegel. âBut itâs still [creator Lee Sung Jin] being brilliant. Itâs a completely new story and if I say anything else then a laser beam will appear on my head. But itâs very exciting.â
Carey Mulliganâs Upcoming Projects
In addition to her work on âBeef,â Mulligan is also involved in Emerald Fennellâs upcoming project âWuthering Heights,â starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. While Mulligan earned an Oscar nomination for Fennellâs âPromising Young Womanâ and appeared in a supporting role in âSaltburn,â she confirmed to Variety that she will not be joining the cast of âWuthering Heightsâ this time around.
âNot on this one. Sheâs shooting now,â Mulligan explained. âBut hopefully all of [Fennellâs films] in the future. I would love that.â
Details on âBeefâ Season 2
Netflix officially announced last fall that a second season of âBeefâ was in the works. The new season will follow a young couple who witness a tense altercation between their boss and his wife, leading to a series of complex power plays in the exclusive world of a country club and its wealthy Korean owner. âBeefâ Season 2 will consist of eight 30-minute episodes.
Sundance Premiere and Release Date
Mulligan is currently at Sundance with her supporting role in âThe Ballad of Wallis Island,â directed by James Griffiths. The film, based on the award-winning short film âThe One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island,â tells the story of an eccentric lottery winner who invites his favorite musicians to perform on his private island. The movie is set to be released by Focus Features in theaters on March 28 following its Sundance world premiere.
âI was so excited to be invited into the world of this mad trio based on the short film, which is so brilliant,â Mulligan expressed about her involvement in the indie film. âI just wanted to be in something that is a good thing to put into the world and that is just lovely and gorgeous. Itâs necessary to have something nice. It was so brilliantly written and the music was so beautiful.â
