Carey Mulligan Begins Filming for Season 2 of Netflix’s “Beef”
Carey Mulligan recently announced at the Variety Studio presented by Audible at Sundance that she has “just started” filming the highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s hit series “Beef.” The first season of the show, which starred Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, was a critical success and won multiple Emmys. With a new storyline and an entirely new cast, including Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny, fans are eagerly awaiting the new episodes.
“We just started. Almost everything [is different],” Mulligan shared with Variety’s Tatiana Siegel. “But it’s still [creator Lee Sung Jin] being brilliant. It’s a completely new story and if I say anything else then a laser beam will appear on my head. But it’s very exciting.”
Carey Mulligan’s Upcoming Projects
In addition to her work on “Beef,” Mulligan is also involved in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming project “Wuthering Heights,” starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. While Mulligan earned an Oscar nomination for Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman” and appeared in a supporting role in “Saltburn,” she confirmed to Variety that she will not be joining the cast of “Wuthering Heights” this time around.
“Not on this one. She’s shooting now,” Mulligan explained. “But hopefully all of [Fennell’s films] in the future. I would love that.”
Details on “Beef” Season 2
Netflix officially announced last fall that a second season of “Beef” was in the works. The new season will follow a young couple who witness a tense altercation between their boss and his wife, leading to a series of complex power plays in the exclusive world of a country club and its wealthy Korean owner. “Beef” Season 2 will consist of eight 30-minute episodes.
Sundance Premiere and Release Date
Mulligan is currently at Sundance with her supporting role in “The Ballad of Wallis Island,” directed by James Griffiths. The film, based on the award-winning short film “The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island,” tells the story of an eccentric lottery winner who invites his favorite musicians to perform on his private island. The movie is set to be released by Focus Features in theaters on March 28 following its Sundance world premiere.
“I was so excited to be invited into the world of this mad trio based on the short film, which is so brilliant,” Mulligan expressed about her involvement in the indie film. “I just wanted to be in something that is a good thing to put into the world and that is just lovely and gorgeous. It’s necessary to have something nice. It was so brilliantly written and the music was so beautiful.”
