MEXICO CITY — Carlos Sainz’s victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix was a moment of pure emotion. Starting from pole position, the Spaniard lost the lead to Max Verstappen but fought back to claim a well-deserved victory. His race engineer, Ricciardo Adami, hailed Sainz’s performance as a “master class,” marking a significant achievement for the Ferrari driver.

Sainz’s win was historic, as he became the first driver to win the Mexico City GP from pole in eight years and the first Ferrari driver to win the race since 1990. This season has seen Sainz secure multiple victories, showcasing his skill and determination on the track. Ferrari’s recent upgrades have propelled them to second in the constructors’ standings, setting the stage for a potential title challenge in the future.

However, despite his success, Sainz will be leaving Ferrari at the end of the season. Expressing his joy at winning in front of a passionate crowd in Mexico, Sainz emphasized his desire to savor the remaining races of the season and chase further victories.

The race itself was a thrilling contest, with Sainz having to work hard to regain the lead from Verstappen. A daring move into Turn 1 allowed him to overtake the Red Bull driver and establish a lead that he maintained till the end. Despite a minor misfire and intense battles behind him, Sainz controlled the race with confidence and poise.

As the Spanish national anthem played in celebration, Sainz was visibly moved, reflecting on the significance of the moment with his family and friends by his side. The victory was a culmination of a challenging year for Sainz, who faced uncertainties about his future in Formula One before securing a move to Williams Racing for the next season.

Looking ahead, Ferrari aims to challenge for the constructors’ championship, with Sainz determined to contribute to the team’s success before his departure. The prospect of winning the championship would be the perfect farewell for Sainz, capping off a memorable chapter in his career.

In conclusion, Sainz’s victory in Mexico City was a testament to his skill and resilience as a driver. With Ferrari’s resurgence and his impending move to Williams, Sainz is focused on making the most of the remaining races and leaving a lasting impact on the team. The future looks bright for Sainz, with new challenges and opportunities on the horizon.
