A collision between two vehicles and several cattle has caused traffic on State Highway 1 north of Dunedin to be reduced to one lane as emergency responders clean up the scene.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand reported that crews from the Palmerston and Hampden stations were dispatched to the crash involving two cars and multiple cattle around 9.10pm.
The incident occurred on State Highway 1 near the Moeraki township exit when a vehicle collided with several cattle that were on the road.
As a result of the collision with the animals, the vehicle then struck another car, according to the spokeswoman.
Police and Ambulance services also responded to the scene.
State Highway 1 near the Moeraki exit was restricted to one lane while crews worked to clear the roadway.
Fortunately, no individuals were reported injured in the accident, the spokeswoman confirmed.
