Carson Hocevar made a stylish appearance in a tuxedo at Monday’s Met Gala. In a lighthearted moment, Hocevar shared that his mother was more thrilled about his attendance at the event than his victory at Talladega.
Since his first Cup victory, Hocevar has remained in the limelight. The Spire Motorsports driver added another win to his record in the Truck race at Texas and secured a pole position in Sunday’s WĂŒrth 400.
Thanks for the submission!
He achieved a seventh-place finish, just one spot behind his teammate Daniel Suarez. The 23-year-old attended the Met Gala in a Christian Dior suit featuring lily of the valley embellishments.
On the red carpet, Hocevar mentioned who he hoped to meet.
“If somehow or another I get to pass by Sabrina Carpenter, that would be a tie on my list.” [1:01 onwards]
When discussing his pre-event routine, Hocevar commented,
“So normally it works because I’m confident, you know, racing and putting a race suit on. When I put this suit on, it’s hard for me to get that confident. This is just so new to me, but I’ve been enjoying every experience. I get to wear this watch. Was my dad’s first watch he ever gave me so I wanted to wear that tonight and then my mom is super proud. I think she’s more proud that I’m here than winning Talladega.”
In the first eleven races, Carson Hocevar has achieved five top-10 finishes. His second consecutive top-10 finish at Texas elevated him to sixth place in the standings, with 333 points and 71 laps led. By this time last year, he had only two top-10 finishes.
Hocevar is the only Spire driver to break into the top-10, while Suarez holds the 14th position and Michael McDowell is in 23rd.
Carson Hocevar shares plans to continue iconic celebration
Carson Hocevar gained widespread attention with his unique victory celebration at Talladega, where he hung out of his window, driving in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
The memorable moment quickly went viral and even received praise from NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell. However, Hocevar noted a missed opportunity when he failed to catch a beer thrown by a fan.
Following his Truck win in Texas, Hocevar performed the same stunt while doing a donut, hoping to continue the tradition until he catches something from fans.
“I’m all in until I catch, you know, whatever they throw at me, and then I’m done with it,” he said.
Carson Hocevar also cautioned fans not to overwhelm him with items, encouraging them to be creative instead.
