HBO executive Casey Bloys recently informed The Times of London that the network is in the process of developing the second season of the eagerly awaited “Harry Potter” TV series.
Bloys stated, “Our goal is to not have a huge gap, you know, especially because the kids are growing. It’s not going to be an annual; the show is too big and too massive. But … they’re writing the season two now.”
The HBO series features Dominic McLaughlin as the boy who lived, Harry Potter, alongside Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The ensemble cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby as Petunia and Vernon Dursley, and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
The series is set to be a true adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels, with each season dedicated to one book. The recently unveiled trailer for Season 1 showcases memorable scenes from “The Sorcerer’s Stone,” the series’ first installment, including Harry receiving his Hogwarts acceptance letter, meeting Ron on the Hogwarts Express, and unwrapping a Quidditch broomstick. It also offers glimpses of Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy, Mr. Ollivander, the Sorting Hat, and more.
HBO’s “Harry Potter” series was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K. The series is spearheaded by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and “Succession” director Mark Mylod, who directed multiple episodes. The executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman.
