SpaceX, the aerospace company founded by Elon Musk, is poised for significant growth according to Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest. The firm projects that SpaceX could reach a valuation of $2.5 trillion by 2030, representing a substantial increase from its current valuation of $350 billion. This forecast is based on the completion of Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite constellation project which aims to have 42,000 satellites in orbit by 2035.

ARK’s valuation model, developed in collaboration with space research firm Mach33, suggests that Starlink could generate $300 billion in annual revenue and capture 15% of the global communications market. This revenue potential is comparable to tech giant Apple’s current sales figures, underscoring the massive scale of the opportunity for SpaceX.

Once Starlink is fully operational, SpaceX is expected to shift its focus towards Mars colonization. ARK believes that Musk’s other ventures, such as Tesla’s Optimus robots and The Boring Company’s machinery, will play a crucial role in supporting the development of Mars infrastructure. While the commercial viability of extraterrestrial ventures remains speculative, ARK anticipates that Mars-related businesses could impact SpaceX’s valuation by the late 2030s.

SpaceX’s growth trajectory is heavily reliant on government contracts, with the company having received over $20 billion in federal funding over the past 15 years. This dependence on government support explains Musk’s efforts to mend his relationship with President Donald Trump following a public dispute.

Investors looking to gain exposure to SpaceX and other innovative companies in Musk’s portfolio can consider ARK’s Venture Fund (ARKVX). SpaceX accounts for over 13% of the fund’s holdings, alongside other Musk companies like Neuralink and xAI. The fund has delivered nearly 20% returns over the past year, making it an attractive option for investors seeking exposure to disruptive technologies.

For investors interested in pre-IPO opportunities similar to SpaceX, the ERShares Private-Public Crossover ETF (XOVR) offers a compelling solution. This actively managed fund targets companies with high growth potential and a focus on innovation. By investing in privately offered securities, XOVR provides access to companies with characteristics akin to SpaceX before they go public.

XOVR’s investment strategy aligns with Cathie Wood’s investment philosophy, focusing on breakthrough technologies and disruptive business models. The fund’s portfolio includes companies in sectors like artificial intelligence, robotics, space exploration, and renewable energy, mirroring the trends that are driving SpaceX’s valuation.

With SpaceX’s path to a $2.5 trillion valuation not without risks, the broader trend towards space commercialization appears to be unstoppable. For investors who share Cathie Wood’s vision but prefer the ease of investing in an ETF, XOVR offers access to the entrepreneurial ecosystem driving the next wave of technological advancement.

Overall, the potential for growth in the space industry presents exciting opportunities for investors, and strategies like those offered by ARK Invest and XOVR can help capitalize on these trends.
