Choosing the Next Pope
Cardinals Turn to Movie ‘Conclave’ for Inspiration!
Art Imitating Life in Vatican City

Pope Francis‘s passing has necessitated a conclave in the Vatican City, prompting some Cardinals to seek guidance from an unexpected source – the movie “Conclave” featuring Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini, and Stanley Tucci.
As reported by Politico, the Cardinals are using the film as a reference point as they prepare for the upcoming conclave.
The last conclave took place in 2013, resulting in the election of Pope Francis. Many current clerics in the Vatican were appointed by Francis and did not participate in the previous conclave.
While the effectiveness of using a movie for guidance is debatable, the Cardinals seem to believe it is a helpful exercise in preparation.
All 133 voting cardinals came together for a special mass before the conclave, seeking divine guidance in their selection of the next Pope.
Following the recent passing of Pope Francis due to health complications, the Cardinals are set to begin the voting process for his successor today.
As the Cardinals convene to select the next Pope, the influence of the movie “Conclave” remains to be seen. Who will emerge as the new leader of the Catholic Church is a question that only time will answer.
