The investigation into Celeste Rivas‘ untimely death has been described as “complicated,” with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) emphasizing that establishing the cause of death is crucial.
Captain Scot Williams shared with TMZ that they are collaborating with the L.A. County Medical Examiner to determine the precise cause of death. This process is vital, as investigators have yet to clarify whether her passing resulted from foul play or was due to other factors, meaning it remains ambiguous whether the case amounts to homicide, accidental drug overdose, or something else altogether.
Captain Williams also conveyed that investigators are processing the evidence found within the Tesla, including potential digital and video evidence. While inquiries regarding whether the vehicleâs cameras captured footage of those who placed Celeste’s body into the trunk remain unanswered, he reiterated that the Robbery Homicide Division is diligently analyzing all available data.
Further clarification came as Captain Williams rectified his earlier statement regarding the timeline of Celeste’s body being inside the Tesla, now suggesting it might have been there for weeksâpotentially the entire period it was parked and abandoned on a street in the Hollywood Hills. However, he stressed that this remains a theory rather than confirmed fact.
Moreover, the LAPD is exploring a “reported relationship” involving Celeste and D4vd, suggesting that the investigation may have personal connections worth scrutinizing.
At present, Captain Williams confirmed that the police are not actively pursuing any suspects or persons of interest as the investigation proceeds.
