Charli XCX is expanding her career into the world of acting with a new role in Benito Skinner’s upcoming comedy series “Overcompensating.” This news comes hot on the heels of the success of her album “Brat,” which was released in June. In addition to her role in “Overcompensating,” Charli XCX has also secured roles in three upcoming films.
One of the films she will be appearing in is the Gregg Araki thriller “I Want Your Sex,” where she will star alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. She will also be featured in Daniel Goldhaber’s remake of the 1978 film “Faces of Death,” alongside Barbie Ferreira. Additionally, Charli XCX will be part of Julia Jackman’s adaptation of the graphic novel “100 Nights of Hero,” which stars Emma Corrin and Maika Monroe.
In “Overcompensating,” Charli XCX joins a talented cast that includes Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah as series regulars. With the help of Benny’s older sister (Barone) and her boyfriend (DiMarco), Benny and Carmen navigate the ups and downs of college life, including terrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. The series promises to be both deeply funny and personal, exploring the lengths to which we all go to overcompensate while trying to discover our true selves.
