Allman’s Struggle with Substance Abuse and Family Drama

Allman, a talented musician, has been battling with substance abuse since he was a teenager. In a candid 2014 interview, he confessed to using heroin and other drugs starting from the young age of 11. Reflecting on his past struggles, Allman shared, “I was just looking to escape all the things in my past… you may jump off a bridge. If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help.”

In a concerning turn of events, Allman collapsed at the Chateau Marmont in 2023, prompting Cher to seek a temporary conservatorship over her son. She expressed that Allman was unable to manage his trust fund due to “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.” However, the petition was later withdrawn in September 2024, following opposition from King, Allman’s supportive wife who had been by his side throughout his recovery journey.

King, a member of the pop group KING known as Queenie, tied the knot with Allman in 2013. Their relationship has been marked by turmoil, with reports suggesting that Cher refused to acknowledge their engagement. A source close to the family revealed, “Cher’s always pointed the finger at Marieangela when things spiraled. She had Elijah sent off to a treatment center in Mexico without informing anyone – and it ended up being Marieangela who had to go and get him back.”
