Chicago man charged with robbing delivery drivers while AWOL from gun case

Court records reveal that a 19-year-old man from Chicago, charged with the gunpoint robbery of two food delivery drivers, was already a fugitive. He had disappeared from a pending felony gun case weeks before the alleged robberies.

Identified as Treshon Redmond, he is facing two counts of armed robbery and one count of felony theft. The Chicago Police Department (CPD) claims Redmond used firearms to rob delivery drivers of their food and cash, and also stole a cash register from a taco restaurant.

Court documents indicate Redmond did not attend a February 11 hearing related to his gun case. During the hearing, a court officer informed Cook County Judge John Lyke that Redmond had not reported to their office since his release from custody on November 4, despite being ordered to check in monthly. Public records do not show any communication about Redmond’s non-compliance in December or January. Consequently, Judge Lyke issued an arrest warrant for Redmond at that hearing.

Redmond (CPD)

Prosecutors allege that three days later, Redmond threatened a 52-year-old pizza delivery driver with a gun in the 1500 block of South Sawyer, demanding money and pizza. On March 5, he reportedly targeted another delivery driver, aged 53, on the same block, taking $380 and seafood.

The CPD, unaware of Redmond’s alleged criminal activities at the time, apprehended him on March 12 during a domestic altercation. After being presented before Judge Lyke on March 19, Redmond was released again with instructions to report to a court officer.

On April 29, prosecutors say Redmond entered Lucido’s Tacos at 4147 West 26th Street, took the cash register, and escaped on foot. This crime was not linked to him until recently.

However, on May 5, prosecutors dismissed the gun case, allowing Redmond a fresh start—only for CPD detectives to connect him to the previous robberies and cash register theft. Judge Luciano Panici, Jr. has ordered his detention on these new charges.
