Chopova Lowena: A Decade of Fresh and Sustainable Fashion
Chopova Lowena, the brainchild of Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena, has been making waves in the fashion industry for nearly a decade. Known for their upcycled folkloric textiles, kitschy prints, and iconic carabiner skirts, the design duo has managed to stay relevant season after season. Their commitment to sustainability and careful growth strategy have helped them carve out a unique space in the fashion landscape.
The latest collection, titled “Too Ripe and Ready by Half,” is a perfect example of Chopova Lowena’s innovative approach to design. Drawing inspiration from Regency-era silhouettes and 20th-century golf clothing, the collection features a mix of bold patterns, textures, and colors. The designers staged a presentation at the 19th-century Crafts Council building, showcasing mannequins styled in full looks that were a modern twist on historical fashion.
The lookbook, shot against theatrical backdrops, features Peter Pan-collared dresses, collage knits, and striped rugby tops for women, while men can expect striped rugby tops and plus four-inspired breeches. The collection also includes stunning dresses with basque-waist corsets and dramatic puff skirts, as well as accessories like carpet bags, pearl-strung belts, and Victorian-inspired stompers.
In addition to their main collection, Chopova Lowena also launched a new intimates line, Chopova Lowena Feelings, featuring tees, bras, and knickers in vibrant colors with playful designs. The designers saw this as an opportunity to reach a new audience while staying true to their creative vision.
The presentation at the Crafts Council was a hit, with attendees admiring the intricate details of the clothes and trying their hand at the miniature crazy golf course set up in the room. Chopova Lowena once again proved that they can create a memorable fashion moment without the need for a traditional runway show.
As Chopova and Lowena continue to push boundaries and explore new ideas, it’s clear that their unique vision and sustainable approach to fashion will continue to set them apart in the industry. With each collection, they manage to breathe new life into familiar design tropes, keeping their brand fresh and exciting for years to come.
