Claudia Sheinbaum’s Controversial Move to Protect Cartels Sparks Outrage

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has come under fire for her recent proposal to amend the Constitution in order to prevent the United States from taking action against drug traffickers without government approval. This move has raised concerns about Sheinbaum’s priorities and allegiances, with many accusing her of prioritizing the interests of cartels over the safety of Mexican citizens.

The proposed amendments to articles 19 and 40 of the constitution would effectively block any foreign investigation or military intervention without explicit permission from the Mexican government. The First Amendment aims to safeguard the nation’s integrity, independence, and sovereignty by prohibiting any foreign actions that could be deemed prejudicial. Meanwhile, the Second Amendment calls for harsh penalties for individuals involved in illegal arms trafficking, as well as for foreigners who violate Mexico’s sovereignty.

In response to criticism, Sheinbaum has defended her stance, stating, “What we want to make clear in the face of this designation is that we do not negotiate sovereignty. This cannot be an opportunity for the United States to infringe upon our sovereignty.”

However, many argue that Sheinbaum’s supposed defense of sovereignty is merely a cover-up for protecting drug cartels and their illicit activities. While the US considers using military force against the cartels, Sheinbaum’s focus on legal protections for them has raised suspicions about her true intentions as a leader. Is she truly governing for the benefit of Mexico, or is she serving the interests of the narcos?
