In response to the increasing apprehensions regarding OpenAI’s Sora 2 within the entertainment sector, estates belonging to legendary figures like Judy Garland, Jimmy Stewart, Burt Reynolds, and others are now protected under a new initiative focused on likeness and AI rights by deepfake detection specialist Loti AI, in collaboration with intellectual property management company CMG Worldwide.

The agreement allows Loti AI’s cutting-edge technology to safeguard CMG’s diverse roster of personalities and estates from unauthorized digital exploitation and alteration. This includes renowned figures like Burt Reynolds, Christopher Reeve, Ginger Rogers, Harry Belafonte, Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Raquel Welch, Andre the Giant, Joe Louis, Macho Man Randy Savage, Rocky Marciano, Sugar Ray Robinson, David Ruffin, Albert Einstein, General George Patton, Mark Twain, Neil Armstrong, and Rosa Parks.

With this partnership, CMG aims to leverage Loti’s capabilities for “ongoing monitoring, discovery, and removal functionalities to thwart any unauthorized reproduction and impersonation of its clients’ images and voices across digital platforms.” Loti asserts its commitment to ensuring that globally recognized figures are portrayed with precision, consent, and dignity.

This initiative represents a proactive stance amidst the ongoing discourse surrounding digital rights protection, especially as AI tools such as Sora 2 facilitate the creation of clips from copyrighted content, simplifying the process of generating digital representations of individuals who can no longer provide consent for their likeness to be utilized.

“Every individual we represent has significantly influenced culture. Unauthorized digital reproductions jeopardize their reputations and can misrepresent historical narratives,” commented Joey Roesler from CMG Worldwide. “Loti empowers us to protect their images and maintain the integrity of the narratives and legacies they established.”

“The increasing necessity for such technology highlights a new era in legacy and rights management, as historical estates and contemporary talents turn to continual digital safeguards to uphold authenticity, reputation, and value in a time of virtually limitless content manipulation,” noted Luke Arrigoni, CEO of Loti AI. “We are thrilled to partner with CMG to protect the likenesses and legacies of some of the most recognized and culturally significant figures throughout history.”

Arrigoni further emphasized, “This collaboration illustrates Loti’s dedication to empowering individuals in deciding what they disclose or keep confidential. As synthetic media becomes more widespread, instituting these protections is crucial for maintaining trust in the digital realm. Families and estates must possess the authority to enforce their wishes regarding how posthumous likenesses are used. Safeguarding the legacy of these icons moves us towards a future with no unauthorized content and no infringements on consent online.”
