Have you noticed much buzz around Elon Musk’s latest venture, the ‘America Party’? If not, you’re not alone—interest appears to be as sparse as a snowstorm in July.
CNN’s data analyst Harry Enten recently scrutinized the polling metrics for Musk and his nascent party, and the outlook is decidedly grim. According to Enten, the party is “pretty much dead on arrival,” a phrase that might find its way onto the party’s promotional materials, albeit as a cautionary tale.
Initially, Democrats and the media greeted the formation of Musk’s party with excitement, believing it could siphon votes from MAGA supporters and Republicans. However, those on the right are well-acquainted with such narratives and the predictable outcomes they often yield.
RedState reports:
Enten highlighted Musk’s staggering decline in popularity since June 2016, when he basked in the glow of a +29 net favorable rating. Fast forward to July 2025, and he finds himself plummeting to a net favorability of -37. That’s a jaw-dropping 66-point nosedive.
This downturn can be attributed partly to the Democrats’ relentless demonization of Musk over his ties to DOGE, branding him with labels that ranged from questionable to downright absurd. Yet, Musk has also managed to alienate a segment of the right, particularly with his critiques of Donald Trump. Enten pointed out that Musk’s favorability among Republicans has dropped a staggering 55 points, from +61 to a mere +6.
As for the America Party itself, only 25% of respondents expressed support, while a hefty 74% voiced opposition. For context, Ross Perot, a more popular figure, faced a similar fate with his own third-party ambitions.
As it stands, the America Party seems “dead on arrival” in terms of becoming a viable option in the political landscape. However, it could still act as a spoiler in upcoming elections.

Jeez louise, Musk’s 3rd party looks close to dead on arrival.
He’s suffered a 66 pt drop in his net favorable since entering the politics scene. At a -37 pt net fav now!
With the GOP, he’s down 55 pts in just 4 months to just a +6 pt net fav.

Right-leaning voters are acutely aware that their primary focus is to keep Democrats from regaining power. The emergence of a third party could serve as a backdoor for the left to reclaim the House, the Senate, and possibly even the White House—a scenario that many wish to avoid at all costs.
