Nancy Han makes a triumphant return to CNN as the senior VP of video editorial, marking her comeback to the network three years after Warner Bros. Discovery closed down CNN+. Han previously led the weekly programming at CNN+ and will now spearhead CNN’s video storytelling strategy across linear, digital, and mobile platforms. Her role includes developing and implementing approaches that resonate with audiences, as well as leading a new team that will produce original videos and optimize video assets from the beginning of a story.
In her new position, Han will play a critical role in shaping how CNN delivers distinctive and timely video stories tailored for the ever-evolving media landscape. Based out of CNN’s New York bureau, she will report to head of editorial Virginia Moseley and work closely with Alex MacCallum, EVP of digital products and services. Her extensive experience in digital media, streaming, broadcast, and emerging technologies make her a valuable asset to the CNN team.
Prior to her return to CNN, Han founded and served as principal at Han Wapner Media, a consulting firm where she advised clients such as CNN and TalkShopLive on digital strategies. Her previous roles include VP of weekly programming at CNN+, executive VP of news at NowThis Media, senior producer at “CBS This Morning,” and 11 years at ABC News. Han’s career in journalism began in local news in Providence, Rhode Island, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from New York University. Additionally, she has shared her expertise as an adjunct professor at NYU, teaching undergraduate journalism courses.
With her wealth of experience and innovative approach to storytelling, Nancy Han is poised to lead CNN’s video editorial team to new heights. Her appointment signifies CNN’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge video content that resonates with audiences in today’s rapidly changing media landscape.
