Colton Herta, the former Andretti Global driver, recently appeared at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington, where he was spotted in the paddock. The American racer took the opportunity to reflect on his replacement, Will Power, and how the Australian driver is adapting to life at Andretti Global.

Herta recently made his F2 debut at the Australian GP, where all the Formula series were racing at Albert Park. Despite F1 being in China for the weekend, Herta decided to fly back to the US to attend the Arlington GP. The 25-year-old was seen in the paddock sporting a casual grey t-shirt and denim jeans.

During an interview with motorsport insider Tony Donohue, Herta discussed his relationship with Will Power and whether his experience as a reserve driver for Cadillac helped Power transition to Andretti Global. Herta mentioned that while they didn’t have extensive conversations, Power’s track record speaks for itself, and he is confident in Power’s abilities to succeed with the team.

Herta parted ways with IndyCar after the 2025 season to join Cadillac’s F1 project as a reserve driver. In addition to his F1 commitments, Herta also joined Hitech GP to compete full-time in the F2 season. Despite his move to the Formula ladder series, rumors have circulated that Herta might make a return to IndyCar for the Indy 500, especially with a vacant entry at Andretti Global following Marco Andretti’s retirement.

Dan Towriss, the CEO of Cadillac and Andretti Global, addressed these rumors on the F1: Beyond the Grid podcast, stating that while no decisions have been made, the possibility of Herta returning to IndyCar is not ruled out. The fact that Cadillac and Andretti Global fall under the same parent company, TWG Motorsports, along with Spire Motorsports, makes it feasible for Herta to race across different series without conflict.

Overall, Herta’s presence at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington sparked speculation about his potential return to IndyCar and his ongoing involvement with Cadillac and F2 racing. As the racing season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Herta’s career continues to evolve across different motorsport disciplines.
