Atlanta-based comedian Desi Banks is making moves in the entertainment industry, as he gears up to star in his own sitcom project with BET Studios. The half-hour comedy, loosely based on Banks’ own standup routines, will follow the story of a lovable yet stubborn comedian on the rise as he navigates fatherhood, relationships, and the pursuit of his dreams.
Collaborating with writer Malcolm “Champ” Heaggans, Banks is not only starring in the sitcom but also serving as an executive producer. The show will showcase the Atlanta synergy, with both Banks and Heaggans hailing from the city. Production companies involved in the project include Atlanta-based Quality Films and 3 Arts Entertainment, with Jermaine Johnson leading the charge at 3 Arts’ new Atlanta office.
In addition to Johnson, executive producers on the project include Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas, Christopher Hicks, and Terrence Battle. The team is excited to bring Banks’ comedic talent to the small screen and showcase the vibrant entertainment scene in Atlanta.
Currently on his “Elevation Tour,” Banks has been making waves in the comedy world following his successful “Purpose Chaser Tour.” With experience touring alongside renowned comedians like Mike Epps, Deray Davis, and Martin Lawrence, Banks is no stranger to the stage. As the CEO of Desi Banks Productions, he has created thousands of original videos and collaborated with A-list stars and brands.
Some of Banks’ on-screen credits include “One of Them Days,” “Little,” and “Haunted Trail.” With a strong team of representatives including UTA, M88, and Triiiangle Agency, Banks is poised for even greater success in the entertainment industry.
