Authorities report that 26-year-old Amado Lopez-Hernandez was apprehended after allegedly threatening a 63-year-old woman with a firearm and firing shots at her neighbor.

Details from a detention petition submitted in Cook County court indicate that the incident occurred in the 5400 block of South Hamlin Avenue. The 63-year-old victim recounted that as she was approaching her residence, she noticed Lopez-Hernandez outside, dressed in a black hoodie with his hood pulled up, appearing restless as he clutched his waistband. He started to intensely stare at her before lifting his sweatshirt to display a firearm, as per the prosecutors.

CWBChicago, established in 2013 by five residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown, arose out of a frustration with misleading information shared at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.

Since then, our coverage has broadened to include areas like Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other neighborhoods on the North Side. However, our goal remains the same: to deliver in-depth public safety reports that offer better context and detail than conventional media sources.
