Conor McGregor Dropped By ‘Hitman’ After Losing Civil Assault Case

IO Interactive, the developers of the popular “Hitman” video game franchise, have made the decision to cut ties with UFC superstar Conor McGregor following his recent civil assault case loss. This move comes after McGregor was found liable for assault in Ireland last week, with a jury awarding the victim approximately $250,000 in damages.

In a statement posted on X, IO Interactive announced that they will be removing all McGregor-related content from the “Hitman” universe, where McGregor was featured as one of Agent 47’s assassination targets. The decision to end the collaboration with the athlete was made “effective immediately” in light of the court ruling.

McGregor’s virtual character, known as “The Disruptor,” was a popular target for gamers within the game. Players were tasked with finding unique ways to eliminate McGregor, with the option to purchase a virtual fur coat similar to the one McGregor is known for wearing.

It remains unclear whether IO Interactive will offer refunds to those who have already purchased McGregor-related content in the game. However, the company emphasized that they take the matter seriously and cannot ignore its implications.

Despite the court ruling, McGregor has maintained his innocence and has vowed to appeal the decision. In a post on X, McGregor expressed his determination to continue fighting for justice and truth, stating, “We are not done yet. Not by a long shot. No chance. On we fight! Justice and truth will prevail! Appeal! Appeal! Appeal!”

As the gaming community awaits further developments, it is evident that the repercussions of McGregor’s legal troubles extend beyond the courtroom and into the virtual world of gaming.
