An alleged thief who reportedly stole meat and wine from a Dunedin supermarket has been apprehended by police.
The suspect took off with ‘‘$193 worth of meat and two bottles of wine’’ from the Woolworths Andersons Bay supermarket.
Law enforcement officers tracked him down after receiving a call to a residence on Mulford St around 10pm last night, according to Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond from Dunedin.
A 34-year-old man appeared at the Mulford St address after being evicted from his bail location, Snr Sgt Bond explained.
The man was taken into custody for violating his bail conditions and was also charged for the theft at the supermarket.
He is set to make an appearance in the Dunedin District Court later today.
