A hit-and-run driver critically injured a 90-year-old man in Edgewater on Saturday evening, and Chicago police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the culprit.
The incident occurred at 5:43 p.m. as the victim was crossing the 6000 block of North Broadway at Elmdale. The driver of a silver 2005 Chevy Equinox struck the elderly man before fleeing the scene. A witness reported that the driver returned briefly before fleeing once again, leaving the victim in critical condition.
Authorities released photos of the Equinox, which had a pink breast cancer ribbon sticker on the rear window and Illinois temporary license plate 313-AC-082. The driver was described as a 27-year-old Black female wearing a bonnet.
The injured man was rushed to St. Francis Hospital for treatment of his critical injuries.
The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit is urging anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to contact them at 312-745-4521, citing case number JH558294.
