The sudden death of former US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber, has left the community in shock. Aber was found unresponsive at her home in Alexandria, prompting an investigation by the Alexandria Police Department.
According to a news release from the APD, they received a call about an unresponsive woman at Aber’s residence on Saturday morning. The circumstances surrounding her death are currently under investigation, with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia set to determine the cause and manner of her passing.
Erik Siebert, the current US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, expressed his condolences upon hearing the news of Aber’s death. Aber, a graduate of William & Mary Law School, was appointed by former President Biden to lead a team of prosecutors, civil litigators, and support staff across multiple divisions in Virginia. She served in this role until her resignation on January 20.
