Mass Transit Detectives are currently working to identify the suspects involved in a violent armed robbery that took place on a Red Line train near the 69th Street station. The incident occurred at around 1:40 a.m. on June 21, where a woman was targeted by multiple offenders who physically assaulted her and forcibly took her backpack. One of the robbers even brandished a knife and used it to cut the backpack straps before making off with the bag and its contents at the 69th Street station, according to a police press release.

The Chicago Police Department has released images of five individuals who are believed to be connected to the robbery, urging anyone with information to come forward. Red Line passengers are advised to remain vigilant by sitting near the train conductor, keeping valuables hidden, and avoiding the use of cell phones in plain sight to prevent becoming targets of similar crimes.

If you have any information regarding the suspects or the incident, please contact Mass Transit Detectives at (312) 745-4447 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com. Be sure to reference case #JJ302639 when providing any details.

It is crucial for the safety of all passengers to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to authorities promptly. Let’s work together to ensure the security and well-being of everyone using the public transportation system.
