Check out the video featuring Senator Cory Booker:
During his appearance on ABC’s This Week, Booker remarked:
I’ve never encountered an administration that has made such fundamentally misguided decisions, ones that so profoundly hurt the American populace.
I’ve been inundated with calls from anxious Americans who have diligently saved for retirement, only to find their plans in jeopardy. In one fell swoop, Donald Trump has wreaked havoc on their retirement accounts and 401ks. Many Americans, already living paycheck to paycheck, are grappling with rising costs that have surged under his administration.
Despite his promises to lower inflation, families are now bracing for increased monthly expenses due to his actions, which will have devastating effects. This turmoil is compounded by recent Senate efforts to extend tax cuts from the Trump era that primarily benefit the wealthiest Americans.
This move threatens to create yet another multi-trillion-dollar gap in our national deficit. To finance these tax breaks, they plan to slash Medicaid—a lifeline for millions facing financial and healthcare challenges. It’s alarming. At a recent town hall, parents of disabled children and caretakers of elderly relatives shared harrowing stories illustrating how even a modest 5% reduction in services could plunge their families into chaos.
They ask, why is this happening? The answer is clear: the President is pursuing a plan that undermines essential services, all in the name of providing larger tax breaks to the affluent. The chaos he has unleashed and the financial insecurity many are experiencing starkly contrast with his promises.
In fact, I believe he will be remembered for having one of the worst first hundred days of any president in the last century.
Senator Cory Booker recognizes that the current crisis is fundamentally about people, not political maneuvering.
Real lives are being adversely affected by Trump’s policies.
While the Trump administration claims there is no intent to destabilize the stock market, the unintentional consequences are painfully evident: countless Americans are suffering due to his decisions.
The funding freezes and cuts are depriving many of critical services they rely on.
Most of those who voted for Trump did not anticipate this outcome, although his campaign rhetoric did hint at the potential ramifications of his policies.
Sen. Booker gets it, and his insights have significantly improved the messaging coming from Senate Democrats.
