Tragedy struck in Nashville over the weekend as an elderly woman was hit and killed by a truck, with country singer Conner Smith behind the wheel.
According to law enforcement sources, Conner was driving a Chevy Silverado north on 3rd Ave when he collided with 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins who was crossing the street on Sunday.
Dobbins, a local resident, was in a marked crosswalk around 7:30 PM when the accident occurred. She was quickly taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center but unfortunately did not survive.
Authorities believe that Conner failed to yield to the pedestrian, which is likely the primary cause of the tragic incident. No signs of impairment were found, and investigations are ongoing with no charges filed yet.
Sources close to Conner insist that this was a tragic accident and that he was not intoxicated or distracted by his phone at the time of the collision.
Conner’s attorney issued a statement expressing condolences to Ms. Dobbins’ family and confirming full cooperation with the investigation following the unfortunate incident.
The singer known for “I Hate Alabama,” a viral hit on TikTok, is affiliated with Big Machine Records.
