Uber driver Jennifer Benitez, also known as the woman with “crazy eyes,” has been arrested following an incident where she allegedly pulled a gun on a passenger in Miami. The arrest took place on May 17, days after the terrifying encounter that was captured on camera.
In police body cam footage obtained by 7News Miami, Jennifer Benitez, 23, is seen being pulled over by cops during a traffic stop in Port St. Lucie. The officer is heard instructing Benitez to put her window down, turn off the engine, and step out of the vehicle with her hands up. Benitez complies and is eventually handcuffed and led to a patrol car.
During the arrest, Benitez sassed an officer, stating that she has the right to remain silent when asked about an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She also got snappy with another officer who was frisking her, questioning the officer’s methods. The first officer then mentioned that Benitez smelled like marijuana, to which she responded by asserting her right to remain silent.
Benitez was extradited to Broward County and appeared in bond court on May 21, where she was charged with one count of aggravated assault. She is currently being held in Broward County Jail with a bond set at $7,500.
The incident involving Benitez and the passenger, Miami rapper Kristel Omier, also known as Krissy Celess, occurred during a late-night Uber ride from Miami to Hollywood. Omier shared a video on Instagram showing Benitez ordering them out of the vehicle and pulling a gun on her. The altercation reportedly started after Omier made a comment about Benitez’s “crazy eyes.”
Following the incident, Uber removed Benitez’s access to the app and stated that they were investigating the matter. The company’s guidelines prohibit Uber drivers from carrying guns, making Benitez’s actions a violation of their policies.
Overall, the arrest of Jennifer Benitez sheds light on the importance of safety and professionalism for Uber drivers, as incidents like these can have serious consequences for both the driver and the passengers involved.
