The world of “Creed” is expanding into television with Amazon Prime Video ordering a new drama series titled “Delphi.” This series is set in the iconic gym featured in the “Creed” film franchise and will focus on young boxers who train at the gym. While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the show is expected to delve into the world of boxing and the challenges faced by aspiring athletes.
The announcement of “Delphi” was made during Amazon’s upfronts presentation to advertisers in New York at the Beacon Theater. Marco Ramirez has been tapped to serve as the showrunner and executive producer of the series. “Creed” star Michael B. Jordan will also be on board as an executive producer through his Outlier Society banner, alongside Liz Raposo. The Winkler Films team, including Irwin Winkler, David Winkler, and Charles Winkler, will also serve as executive producers.
In the “Creed” films, the Delphi Gym is run by Tony “Little Duke” Evers Jr., the son of Apollo Creed’s longtime trainer Tony “Duke” Evers. Wood Harris portrayed Little Duke in all three of the “Creed” films, adding depth and continuity to the new series. Outlier Society, which has a first-look film deal and overall TV deal at Amazon MGM Studios, is also working on other projects like the “Fourth Wing” TV series and a Muhammad Ali series titled “The Greatest.”
Marco Ramirez, the showrunner of “Delphi,” has experience in the world of boxing, having created and worked on the Hulu boxing drama “La Máquina” with a stellar cast including Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, and Eiza González. His impressive resume includes projects like the reboot of “The Twilight Zone” on Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access), as well as popular shows like “Daredevil,” “The Defenders,” and “Fear the Walking Dead.”
Ramirez is represented by UTA and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, showcasing his talent and expertise in the entertainment industry. The “Delphi” series promises to be an exciting addition to the “Creed” universe, exploring the world of boxing in a new and captivating way.
