Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley has decided not to speak to his supporters until the results of the Wisconsin Democratic governor’s primary are finalized, according to information shared by his campaign with POLITICO early Wednesday morning.
Eddie Vale, a spokesperson for Crowley’s campaign, stated, “Weâre still waiting for all the results to come in. We feel optimistic, but itâs not over until the votes are counted.”
Crowley is engaged in a closely contested race with democratic socialist Francesca Hong. The tight margin comes as a surprise, as Hong had previously been leading by a significant margin in public opinion polls. Crowley, however, gained ground late in the campaign by portraying Hong as a risky choice in the general election against Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany.
