Crunchyroll Expands Presence in Thailand with Thai-Language Interface and Localized Content
Crunchyroll is making significant strides in its investment in Thailand by introducing a Thai-language user interface and expanding its library of localized anime content. With over 500 titles now available to Thai subscribers, including more than 70 with Thai dubbing and 300 with Thai subtitles, the platform is solidifying its position in one of Southeast Asia’s most active anime markets.
The latest rollout includes the addition of 70 new titles to the service, consisting of 26 Thai dubs and 44 Thai-subtitled offerings. This expansion aims to cater to the growing demand for anime content in Thailand and enhance the viewing experience for local fans.
Subscribers in Thailand can access the service starting at THB99 per month ($3.15) for the Fan tier or opt for the Mega Fan plan at THB119 ($3.80) monthly or THB999 ($31.80) annually.
Crunchyroll is currently streaming more than 40 winter season simulcasts with Thai localization, offering popular titles like “Jujutsu Kaisen” Season 3, “Fire Force” Season 3, and “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” Season 2 to Thai viewers.
The expansion in Thailand comes as Crunchyroll reports a 50% year-over-year increase in viewership from the country, which ranks fourth globally in terms of anime engagement. The success of anime theatrical releases in Thailand, such as “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” highlights the strong affinity for anime content among local audiences.
Looking ahead, Crunchyroll plans to add 147 additional subtitled and dubbed titles in Thailand by 2026, with 19 catalog titles set for Thai dubbing. By July, the platform aims to offer approximately 772 anime titles in the country, including 228 with Thai dubs, marking a significant increase in the content library.
In support of the launch, Crunchyroll is launching its “Choose Unordinary” brand campaign in Thailand, featuring the original character Hime in unique hand-drawn creative executions.
Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll, expressed excitement about the company’s expansion in Thailand, stating, “Thailand is one of the most passionate and fastest-growing anime markets in Southeast Asia. With our Thai-language interface and enhanced content offerings, we aim to provide fans with a seamless anime viewing experience in their own language.”
Crunchyroll will also be participating in Animonium 2026, a prominent anime and Japanese pop culture festival in Bangkok, where it will serve as the official sponsor of live music concerts during the event.
As an independently operated joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), Crunchyroll continues to expand its global presence and cater to the diverse needs of anime fans worldwide.
