Netflix is getting ready for the highly anticipated return of the popular reality cooking competition, “Culinary Class Wars,” on December 16. The streaming service has just released the main trailer for the upcoming second season, generating excitement among fans of the unscripted series.
Last year, “Culinary Class Wars” made history as the first Korean reality show to top Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English TV) list for three consecutive weeks. It was also hailed as the most beloved series by Korean viewers in a September 2024 survey conducted by Gallup Korea. The show’s success not only captured the hearts of audiences but also revitalized Seoul’s dining scene, leading to increased restaurant bookings and renewed interest in the city’s culinary talent.
Season 2 of “Culinary Class Wars” promises new rules and heightened competition, including the return of two masked contestants seeking redemption. The format will continue to feature blind tastings, where dishes are evaluated solely on flavor to eliminate any bias among the judges.
The judging panel, known as the White Spoons, includes esteemed chefs such as two-Michelin-star chef Lee Jun, one-Michelin-star chefs Son Jong-won and Sunjae, Chinese cuisine expert Hou Deok-juk, and French cuisine specialist Park Hyo-nam. Joining them are popular chefs Jung Ho-young, Sam Kim, Raymon Kim, MasterChef Korea Season 4 judge Song Hoon, and Hansik Battle Season 3 winner Im Seong-keun.
On the opposing team, the Black Spoons, competitors with unique monikers like “Three Star Killer,” “Seochon Prince,” “Culinary Monster,” and “Barbecue Lab Director” will make their return. Newcomers “Culinary Innovator” and “Wok Rider” are set to bring fresh dynamics to the competition, hinting at unexpected alliances and rivalries.
As anticipation for “Culinary Class Wars” Season 2 continues to build, Korean drama “Physical: Asia” maintains its position in Netflix’s Global Non-English Top 10 list for the third consecutive week.
