Former Gov. Paterson and his stepson found themselves in a dangerous situation on the Upper East Side, according to Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels. Sliwa explained to The Post that the duo had no choice but to defend themselves when they were attacked by a group of unruly individuals.
The incident occurred while Paterson and his stepson, Anthony Sliwa, were out for a walk and came across a group of teenagers climbing a fire escape. After exchanging words with the teens, the situation escalated, leading to an alleged attack on the former governor and his stepson.
Despite the confrontation, Paterson sustained minor injuries, described by Sliwa as “battered and bruised but nothing major.” On the other hand, Anthony, aged 20, ended up with a busted lip and is currently awaiting the results of a CAT scan to determine if he has suffered a concussion.
Sliwa commended Anthony for his bravery in fending off the attackers, especially considering Paterson’s visual impairment. He expressed pride in his son’s actions, highlighting that both Paterson and Anthony stood their ground during the altercation.
